01 2.0 starting problem 306 2.0 HDI - garyb49
Hi could someone possibly help me with some info on my non starting peugeot 306.
ive had all the same problems as everyone else on here with the car just randomly not starting over a period of a couple of weeks. after reading a few forums on here i narrowed the problem down to the low pressure fuel pump in the tank which was making no noise and not kicking in on the second turn of the ignition.
with a multi meter on the electrical plug feeding the pump i was reading 10v which i just assumed was down from 12v as the battery may be a little flat due to me trying to start the car so many times.
i bought a new pump and upon fitting i realised that this pump was not working either.
i then tried a 12v battery accross the +/- terminals of old pump and it fired up straight away. with old pump back in i tried starting the car with the 12v battery connected to the pump, started ok!
drove the car round the block with the battery still connected and it cut out although the 12v battery was still ok, not flat.
Are the tank pumps running constantly when the car is running or intermitantly? have i flooded the engine by having the pump running canstantly??
does anyone know where the electrical feed to the pump comes from as i think that is my next point of call on finding this fault

Thank you

Gary
