Astra Question - Bromptonaut
Mother out law has had to surrender her licence due poor health, and we are now getting rid of her 91/J 1.4 Astra Merit. One problem is the temp gauge does not work, possible source of awkward questions ie have we stuffed it to cover up hot running. Likely cause is loose connection, but where the h** is the sender?. There is something low down on the block/crankcase at the cambelt end but guess it is more likley for the oil light.

All contributions gratefully recieved.!!!

but where the sender?.

From memory, it's near, or even screwed into the thermostat housing, near the cambelt cover, on the upper part of the engine. You should be able to see it from looking into the engine bay. There should be a blue wire going to it.
You're right about the one you found screwed into the block/crankcase - that is the oil light pressure switch.

Thanks DD, well hidden under the manifold so will have to wait 'til the weekend.
