99 1.2 Radio and clock background light & Radio no - dercorsa
I just noticed that the radio in my car has stopped working. When I switched off the car and removed the key from the ignition, the LED or background lights on the radio and clock temperature is still on. No recent modifications or no warning lights. Just radio not working and lights stay on. This will run down my battery. HELP!

Thanks for your reply. I will bring it to a garage tomorrow to get it repaired. $15 is not too much. I have removed the battery in the mean time. Thanks.

Thanks, but is it easy to fix the ignition barrell, for a semi-competent wielder of tools?

(Found out how to quote previous comments so should make things easier to follow!)

yes
remove cowling no need to remove steerely wheel just move it around to see the cap covers as you look at it and the ones underneath cowling
you may find it easier to unclip the indicator wiring plug too little plastic clip holds it on
undo the grub screw and carefully prise out the switch ,i say carefully because its held with a pin at the other side and if you are heavy handed you can break the alloy pin in the steering mechanism (bad very bad)
push pin back out of housing with screwdriver
turn ignition broken housing to position 2 so that you can prise the 2 apart watch you dont start the car at this stage and hit something (ideally battery off but you lose radio code if applicable)
once apart reversal as they say
remember once fitted yo push the pin back into hold it and do the grub screw up
make sure you buy the right switch as theres more than one type

caveat umpar dorling............

Great thanks bell boy - thats sounds less faff than the burgundy book, I'll wait for a new switch to come through then give it a go.
