97 3.3 Laid up for several months, now won't start - Siberian Winter
I was hoping for some help.

I have a Grand Voyager 3.3 auto which has been been off the road for 1 year. Car was occassionally started during this time, most recently 3 months ago. Put a new battery on with the aim of finally getting it MoT'd but cannot start it. All lights are on, immobiliser goes off but the engine doesn't even crank.

Strangely, when checking the usual fuses, the Fuel pump fuse blew when replacing it although the ignition was off and key removed. I am worried that this may be a fuel pump problem (Ugh at least £350 plus labour)...so was hoping to cover off all bases before spending unecessary ££.

Have read other forum posts on immobiliser issues etc but it doesn't seem to be related though I don't know what effect faulty relays would have on the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as budget is V tight and I can't afford to buy another car

97 3.3 May not be a new problem - MerlinTec
Hi
Remove the fuel pump relay and retest and you can also unplug the fuel pump without dropping the tank to see if it blows the fuse with it unplugged. Sounds odd that it blew with ignition off I will get a diagram for you if you narrow down the fault if not the pump.

Thanks for the response Merlin.
Can you tell me if there is an access panel to get at the fuel pump?

I don't have any jacking kit save for that supplied with the vehicle. Diagram would be a great help as I understand that there are a number of interconnecting sensors/relays that could cause this problem.

Forgot to ask if you can tell me where the starter motor is located.
I wanted to give it a gentle tap with the proverbial hammer as it has been standing for a while. As the engine isn't cranking I assume that the crank sensor wouldn't allow the fuel pump to run?

Grateful for your help

Hi
starter is down the front, to swap the pump will have to drop the tank.
