HI and HELP!

Got in my new less than 1000 miles on the clock i10 classic today, turned the key in ignition and nothing happened! zilch, nada, nought! No lights no noise just complete silence!! I left nothing switched on, I know!! Any one got any ideas?? I have no one to ask either apart from you guys cos of course there is nothing open and I couldnt drive there anyway! Surely the battery wouldnt be flat?? I havent driven a lot lately just a 4 mile round trip to work daily for the last week.

thanks in advance

Paula

I know it is Sunday tomorrow, but I would call the dealer in the morning, at least their showroom should be open, tell them you are a damsel in distress with one of their brand new cars that will not start and plead for help.

It may be something simple, but give them a call none the less and see how you get on. Alternatively there should be a recovery/breakdown assistance cover for at least 12 months. Dig out the paperwork and give them a call.

Good luck.

Pop the bonnet and check the battery connections are tight by trying to waggle them.

Probably not that but it's amazing how often that's overlooked at PDI.

Do you have an AA / RAC or similar membership ? They would come and have a look at it more or less straightaway if you have appropriate cover.

Hyundai supply 3 years total breakdown cover with all of their new cars, i believe it is through the RAC. If they can't fix it on the spot they will transport it to the nearest Hyundai dealer and arrange for a hire car to be delivered to you.

There should be a card in the handbook folder/pack giving the phone number or it could be on the back of the tax disc holder.

Another downside to the cheaper end of the market - interior lights which don't go out after a few minutes.

Our Aygo is the same.

Paula - the car now needs a good run. Ideally motorway for 30 or 40 miles to get the battery back to full charge.

Or alternativley just put it on charge for at least 8hrs and save the fuel & waste electricity! lol.

i dont recommend the charging option on a modern car unless the charger is state of the art and not grandads from the back of the shed that he last used to charge his honda 50 with
paula as said i too recommend a 10 mile drive to fully replenish the battery
i also often find flat batteries because ive left an interior light on all day, unfortunatelly it often causes cars to run terrible for a few miles while they remap so be aware of this too
