95 1.2 Handbrake seized on - Mel
After several weeks lay up my sons corsa o/s rear brake has seized on.The cable is moving but the wheel is locked. Any suggestions welcome.

I'd first try driving a few feet to see if it releases. If not, remove the wheel and hit drum with hammer. Not too hard at first! Either way, once it does release, it would make sense to have the drum off to overhaul.

place in gear, engine off, handbrake off, lay behind the wheel that is locked on and hit the back plate sharply not to hard but just enough, may also be wise to chock the wheels just in case,regards TB

Many thanks for both responses. Problem has been resolved. Motor now mobile again.
