Trying to get rid of spurious traffic announcements from distant stations.
I found an adjust menu to allow 'Automatic' or ' Fixed' traffic reports.
Anyone else with a recent Skoda sorted this?

We have a new Fabia, and the RDS in that drives me mad - it's like Tourette's on speed, if you're in an area with reception over a wide area.

I've been through all the menus, including dx/local (and read the book), and can't find a solution.

So, no. I haven't sorted it, but would be delighted to hear from anyone ho has.

My Superb used to do this - the announcements were far more annoying than any traffic jam.

Unfortunately, the car is not here at the moment so I can't check the display (and the enormous radio book is in the car) but you should find that if you cycle through the waveband options using the appropriate button, there are several for VHF.

Look at the display and you should find that some VHF options provide RDS which is indicated fairly clearly in the display - and some which don't. If you set the user buttons to your favourite stations on a non-RDS VHF band, they don't appear.

This radio is an ergonomic nightmare (as is any device which needs an instruction manual of this complexity). It's not even a particularly good radio...

The switching RDS off isn't difficult on the specimen in a basic Fabia - just press the "TA" button, it toggles on and off. "TA" is on the display when it is "working".

The irritation for me is that I find it a useful clue to local traffic difficulties (or rather did in a previous car where it did what was expected of it).

I suspect the problem is that the thing is too sensitive, it will happily assault you with random bits of Welsh, then Radios Leicester, Derby, etc etc, when you are up in the Peak District avoiding the M6.

If I travelled a lot, I'm sure I would invest in a traffic option on a GPS box, but as the saying goes, I don't get out much these days and cant'really justify the expense.

Update regarding Bolero, as found on page 14 of the online Bolero pdf manual:-

Switching the RDS function on or off (RDS regional)
? Press on the function key [RDS Regional] and select a set-up in the
opening pop-up window.
? Press on the function key [automatic], doing so will always choose the
frequency for the radio station heard, which offers the best reception
at the present time.
? When pressing on the function key [fix], the unit attempts to hold a
radio station emitting regionally long enough until the reception
quality is so bad, that there is a risk of a program loss.

Which doesn't help me at all.....

Looks as though VAG have progressed with their radio design from bad to hopeless.

Nothing new there...

Thanks for the information. As you say it does not help us to decide. I'm now trying the "fixed " option. Will let you know if it is less annoying.

'Fixed' option has not got rid of picking up reports from York,Humberside, Leicester, Stoke on Trent etc. which are not much use whilst in the Derbyshire Peask District.
