Hi everyone,
first post on the forums despite using the site so I hope no one has me down as a spammer despite my first post being a "request"
Just as a start, I do love my cars and drive an imported Honda Integra DC5 (going to do a search in a minute to see if there is any posts on these) :)
Anyway, one of the reasons I've been prompted to post is a slight request for anyone who has done any driving experiences that you can buy, such as Ferrari or other supercars, tank driving etc.
I run a site and I want peoples reviews on driving experiences they have done in the past. I will send some sort of freebie as a thankyou for anyone who does do a review for the site
If anyone has done a driving experience that they have enjoyed and wouldn't mind doing me a write up then drop me a PM or reply on here as I can't seem to spot an inbox on this forum at the moment :)
As I said, I hope this post doesn't get frowned on too much, I know it's not particularly good form to start posting on a forum asking for help without getting integrated in the forum first and I hope I'm not sent to the naughty corner...
Cheers

Did one at Great Trew, ferrari, Lotus, etc. Still smiling, the Ferrari was worth the money on it's own. Do it!

I havent, but a friend of mine did one recently in a Ariel Atom - he said it was incredible.
my Partner asked me which one would i do, Ferrari or a DB9 I said the DB9 I hope ive made the right choice :-) as i think she is going to get it as a suprise.

Ten years ago I had a 'track day' experience at Silverstone.
They gave us a briefing, then started off in Mercs on those trolley things simulating skid pans.
They set an autotest course at one end of the runway and let us loose in a Caterham (super light I think).
We had one-to-one tuition in a V6 Vectra on the Stowe circuit, my instructor was Thomas Erdos.
We then were given a formula first each and told to follow the car in front round the Stowe circuit to learn clipping points etc. The lead car was driven by an instructor, I was tail end charlie of about a dozen or more. It was like learning by chinese whispers.
We finally had two sessions of twenty or so laps in the formula firsts on our own, with print outs of lap times.
I now know why I never had a career as a racing driver!
A great fun day I wouldn't have missed for anything.

Had the pleasure of an Aston Martin driving day at an old airfield (actually it was 15 minutes maximum) where drivers were allocated a V8 Vantage or DB9 for 5 laps of a circuit.
I was fortunate to get the DB9 and despite lots of prior smug/gloomy hearsay (from colleagues who had never been on such events) there was no fingerwagging from the instructor about being limited to 50 mph. Indeed, it was the complete opposite whereby I was encouraged to use the power at every opportunity and on the final straight of the last lap he told me to "really nail it". The noise was as good as you can imagine.
The same site offered the facility to drive a 911, Gallardo or 430 as well.
Would strongly recommend this type of experience especially as prices seem to have dropped 15-20% in the past year.

I had a "Ferrari (430) Experience" day at Upper Heyford. Only three laps of a coned out circuit with a decent straight to floor it. Drove the Ferrari last after a Porsche 911 Turbo, Impreza STi 300bhp and an Elise. All good fun but in order Porsche and Elise equal 1st, Impreza 3rd and Ferrari 4th only because it takes time to get to grips with the clutch and gearchange and by the time you have it sussed it's all over.

Had a fantastic day with Tank, amunition carrier, stalwart, landrover, go-kart, 6wheel plastic bucket thing! that was fab fun, quads etc
absolutly full on day loads of fun & great group of people turned up for the day.
very well looked after.
Lotus experinece day also excellent
Driving experience at goodwood including rally, caterham 7's Formula ford etc.
All the days really fab fun & well entertained

I mean't to add remeber that when doing curcuits wide & open you do not get the impression of speed like you do on the road so doing 140 on a curcuit is like doing 50 down a country lane! so for me the army vehicle experince was the best! just fun dirty & smelly

Never did any experience on tracks but did drove Land Rover on off road on LR Experience day.
It was really enjoyable...

Where's PU?
I think he did one yonks ago as well.

Twice.
First time was...... ahem...... in 1979. Skid pan training at Snetterton in a Vauxhall Chevette Ecosse 2.3 I seem to think. Jim Russell racing school maybe. Normal road tyres on the front and overinflated slicks on the back. Hooterooney !! Learned quite a lot though I think.
Second time was a single seater day at Thruxton. Must have been around 1989. First half of the course was being coached in a fast saloon by a Stig type. My goodness those guys are good drivers. Second part was being let loose in single seater Formula Ford thingies. It was throwing it down with rain that day too. Scary but huge fun.

I've done a couple. Drove a single seater Renault thingy and an F355 around Thruxton.
Also drove a 350 bhp Evo around a coned out circuit on an old airfield on a 'rally' day. It was not a standard road car-stiffer suspension etc and was manically quick and had unbelievable grip. The problem was that you only got a few laps and coned out courses are really hard to drive until you learn the course as it is harder to see braking points and turn in points etc.
Hilariously, there was some confusion on my last lap. Basically at the end of the straight there was a constant radius 180 degree turn and the exit to the course was just to drive through a gap in the cones at the end of the straight. I didn't realise it was my last lap and was flying down this straight and fully thinking about the corner as we got near the end of the straight the instructor kinda went 'ugh, finished, this way' and it's all going too quick for me to process I start to turn into the corner then change my mind and steer to exit the course, totally lose control lock up all four wheels and spin it in a cloud of tyre smoke, stalled it because I didn't de-clutch quick enough.
Getting out of the car and walking back towards all the spectators was a true walk of shame.
Same day also drove a Group N spec LHD Polo on a dirt course. That was cool, totally alien, motor sport driving position. Again didn't get enough time to get used to it but was cool.

I did a 4x4 off-roading day where they used an old Disco TDI and a Range Rover V8 Bobtail. It was great fun, and cool to see what these vehicles were really designed to do.
I would recommend it any-time.

I had a Porsche Day some years ago (driving a 944 Turbo) around Croft. Great fun and the instructor was brilliant. Very patient and gave good advice to get faster and faster lap times.
Overall a very enjoyable day!

I have Just started marshalling at Croft, although due to personal reasons i havnt been for the last two events
I didnt mention it in my prev post as i didnt think it was relevent but i had a single seater experience at croft in a formula ford it was brilliant apart from the fact it didnt stop raining.
although I think this made it even more fun - until someone span off on the second-to-last lap and we had to come in a lap early.
to get my marshalling posts i get to take my car round the track sometimes although i take it easy as i dont want to spin off, although the temptation is always there to put your foot down on the straight. :-)
