03 1.8 engine burning a bit of oil & smokey - eddie lane
just got the car of a mate it is highe milaged done 150,000 i have flushed the engine i have changed the oil on the car and filterit is only smoking a bit is the anything i can put in the oil 2 help it stop smoking a bit if not it looks like another engine when the engine is running it sounds verry quiet and revs up verry well any advise please

Change to thicker grade of oil.

but this may muck up the valves and top end!, so be wary of moving from 5/30 oil.
Change to thicker grade of oil.

I was not suggesting 20w/50 but a 10w/40 should be alright-the clearances at that milage should not cause problems.
