14000 3years 3 months old miles needs new ABS pump £1500 from main dealer luckily covered by warranty direct as I extended the warranty thank goodness. local VW specialist doing the work. Already had the car for a full day, they said the pump was fitted in two hours but they have trouble configuring the pump. ABS and esp lights still on in road test mode. apparentley they have to do road test with the car plugged into a laptop to configure pump put car will not accept pump yet. ABS and traction working now but lights still on. I will have to take car in again. This is a regular problem with VW cars I am told . I read on a forum that turning the ignition on and off many times should clear the fault and ecu will eventually recognise the new ABS pump.

all they need to do is to retrive the code out of the old pump & configure the new module using the access code. Its not rocket science & never had a problem unless they have mis diagnosed the faults & its an SAS fault

the car has to be driven on the road to configure the ecu or pump whatever .drive at 15km/hr then turn steeering 90deg left then right to config the lateral sensors, a figure of eight type seris of turns should do it so I am told. The abs pump fault was verified by independent vw specialist and main dealer diagnostics as asked for by warranty direct.
