I have a 530D saloon with 90,000 on the clock. Just recently it has started to feel lumpy at tickover, but only on occasions. It runs fine under power, but when stopped and idling feels like it is running on 5 Cyls instead of 6 - can anyone help???

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF to see if it idles better?
I would also try an additive (Millers) to see if it improves.
Do you know of any diesel specialists near you? Things like this can be difficult to diagnose.

Mine is a 2001 530d - 51000m - Injector fault found - Diagnosis and replacement - £800
I've had the car since it was 3 months old, the servicing has been carried out by BMW and completely as recommended by them.
I am extremely disappointed, I thought the engine would be trouble free for least the first 100 000 miles.

Unfortunatly none of the modern common rail diesels are as reliable or durable as the last generation of IDIs, which is why I run Citroen XMs. 300k miles from a 2.1td is not unusual and a new injector is about £35.00 - and, you can fit it yourself, but they don't go!
