Hi,
My EMU light is on all the time and my car seems to lack power below about 2500 revs, but seems fine above 2500 revs.
When pulling away in 1st there is a big 'flat spot' in the revs, I need to put my foot right down to get above 2500 revs. Sometimes this is not as bad if I blip the throttle (clutch full down - no load) before trying to pull away in 1st.
The revs are steady and not surging at idle.
I have great faith in this forum, TOPBLOKE has sorted out an earthing problem with my MAF / temp sensor and diagnosed a broken dis unit within the last 12 - 18 months !! Thank you once again !!
Anyway, I have used the paperclip method and have retreived the following code from my ECU :- 0100.
Has any one experienced this and got any ideas ?
Thank you in advance,
frustrated.......

p0100 code = Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Malfunction
www.obd-codes.com/p0100
Was the ECU light on when you read out the fault code, or is this a stored fault code that is still in ECU memory after sorting out your previous MAF related problem?

Yes, the EMU light was on.
I don't beleive that this is a stored code, as I've had a different one in between since my original MAF problem !!

i would carefully inspect the trunking between the maf and the throttle body for splits which would pull in unmetered air causeing flat spots, cear the codes then drive it till the light comes back on then re read the codes,Regards TB

my monies on a duff maf
at least you are seeing a code as normally vauxhalls dont
ive seen this very problem on a vectra last week and on 2 corsas in the last 5 weeks, unfortunately its got so bad that ive started buying internet sourced ones as i cant keep up to the cost of factors ones that say boxed by bosch on them
im doing a long term check on the reliability of these cheaper ones as i type

Hi,
I've inspected the trunking between the maf and the throttle body for splits, but couldn't see any.
I also disconnected the MAF sensor and driven around the block and it drove with no great difference... maybe not as 'flat' but very similar. Does this mean the MAF is not working ?
Where is the best place to buy one ?
Can you get second hand ? Are they worth considering ?
Any more ideas ?
Thanks,
Sutters.

Hi,
I left the MAF disconnected and drove it to work today, it drove okay, not as 'flat' at low revs, easier to pull off in 1st.....
Will this damage anything ? Will it reduce economy ?
I'm thinking of leaving it like this until I can get a replacement MAF.
Bellboy / Top bloke - where would you suggest getting a replacement from ?
Thank you for the help,
Sutters.
