I have a year 2000 Rover 45 Automatic which I bought 18 months ago. It?s suffered from the same fault since I bought it: it rarely starts first time, needing between 2 and 10 attempts to turn the engine over before it will start. Then, once the engine is running, it stalls as soon as I put the car into Drive. Once I?ve been through that whole routine at the start of the day, it?s fine. I took it back to the garage a few times after buying it, but they always claimed it started for them, so they couldn?t diagnose the problem. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Take it back to the garage and let them keep it overnight and then they can cold start it the next morning.
