99 1.2 16v - External temp sensor - Rattle
My external temperature sensor has a fault as sometimes the dash will display --- instead of the outside temperature, other times I get stupid readings like 50c. I can live with this but does this sensor also tell the ECU what the outside temperature is and this affects the fuel/air flow ratio?

The sensor only provides information to the dash display. Approx £10 from a dealer. Normally located just below and behind the front number plate. If it isn't there, then on earlier Vauxhalls it was located on the lower edge of the corner of the nearside bumper.

Thanks Dave, I won't bother with it for now but if I come to sell I might fix it. I just wanted to be sure my engine wasn't running too rich or lean because of it.
