Got some prices from DrivetheDeal.com but how good are they?
What worries me is they don't seem to do Part-Ex and I don't want the hassle of having to sell my old car privately, plus the fact I would have to find another £4k to cover the purchase until I sold my old one.
Their website has no email address which is a bit worrying.

Used them for a purchase, brilliant service, would do it again. But they don't do part ex so they probably aren't for you.

Thanks for your reply Dave.
So they don't do part-Ex :(
How did you get rid of your old car?
|
We didn't have one to get rid of. It was a new car for my wife (an Aygo) who hadn't had a car for a couple of years.
Some dealers will match a DTD price - with the state of the market any dealer not doing so must be mad - so don't believe DTD is the best price out there.

If you do a forum search you will find plenty of positive feedback, including mine!
Cake and eat it, come to mind.

Very straightforward when we used them just over a year ago - highly reccomended.
Worth noting that, once the inital order is placed on-line, all contact confirming spec and payment etc is direct with the dealer. Depending what you'd like to trade in I guess it's possible that the supplying dealer will take your exising car off you, but if so I'd expect a rock bottom price...

Buy rm DTD and sell you car through auction house. no messing about with private purchasers if that's what you want to avoid. Or put in a bit of effort and sell it privately.
|
If you clik on the Best Deals box, at the top of this site, search back a c few pages & clik on Autofinders Ltd, they have a part exchange facility & comprable/better prices than Drive The Deal.
Remember, there's no harm in asking on line brokers to price match each other!!

I used dtd a couple of years ago and would recommend them. Basically, they act literally as a broker or go-between. They put you in touch with a dealer of the make you want and from there on the transaction is with that (main) dealer. I think that the dealers thay use treat the dvd-related purchase as a fleet purchase and hence the discounts. Mine was a factory order due the extras I wanted but I think they have some off the shelf type purchases available.
A lot of people use ebay now to sell cars, so maybe that's the best way to sell your existing car. Or try the classifieds here?
Good luck with whatever you do.

What do you have to part-ex? The "right kind of car" wouldn't be too hard to shift and you'd do better financially by selling it yourself.
I used a website www.webuyanycar.com to shift an unwanted inheritance quickly last autumn. You can enter your car details and get an online quote. It was a painless process, the price wasn't that bad, but they did knock a few bob off the online quote once I got there and they saw the condition of the car. (They were quite right, the f-i-l had clearly had more "incidents" in it than he'd owned up to us about!!). We handed over the car, keys and paperwork and the money was transferred into our acxcoutn a few days later. They seem to be part of Carcraft, who are a nationwide chain of retailers.

You'll generally find good feeback on them. My own experience with them is good and I'd recommend them . You're asking about P/X and the fact that they don't do it. The reason you've been looking at DtD is because they're cheaper than Main dealers and you want to (understandably) save some money. The reason they're cheaper is explained and includes the absence of PX facilities. If you don't want to sell privately in Exchange & Mart / Autotrader / local rag / Loot or use an agent to sell for you or put it in an auction or put an ad. in a newsagents window or use Ebay or ask your mates to ask around......then you can only PX at a dealer and pay more than you would at DtD.

I used the Autobytel price (which was the best I found) in recent negotiations with a Audi main dealer. He came within £70 once all the extras were added but threw in the boot mat. We went main dealer as the PCP deal was exceptional. I would advise you do your research and go to the dealer with all of the alternate figures but ready to do a deal - if they are ready to offer you a deal.

Do DTD deliver the car?
I was chatting with one online dealer several months back and he could get a good deal on a Toyota but ti turned out the dealer he used was about 200 miles - so by the time I took into account time off to get there plus costs it was not that competitive a price.
I am sure I read on DTD's website a few years back numerous buyers saying that the car was delivered to their front door and they did not have to hand the bankers draft over until they had inspected the car on their doorstep?

Do DTD deliver the car?
Yes - Driven as a rule, not trailered. Or you can collect. You won't know where it's coming from till you contact them. I found them helpful. They got the supplying dealer to ring me with the options - who even added a couple of freebies.....but then times are hard at present - they all want your business.

I was impressed by DTD last year, although it's a qualified endorsement because I didn't actually buy from them. They were also a little cheeky in including in their on-line quotation a rebate from Toyota UK that was conditional on taking a certain Toyota finance package that I didn't want.
Buy they were quite open about this when I discussed it with them on the phone, and still offered a good price and the colour we wanted. I eventually bought from a local dealer instead, but DTD's willingness to stand by its price was a big factor in dragging the dealer down to a level I was prepared to pay. I would happily talk to them again.
