Hi, this may have been asked before but,
I ave a Tdi focus, its a `W` reg one, and the fuel pump has failed, i have been told that used pump cannot be re programed,BUT the ECU can be re-coded to recognise he second hand pump,,,,is this true?
if so at what cost ?
Thanks Toby

just a quick update to this,
today i had tha second hand pump fitted by my dadi-n-law'
i then towed it to agarage that checks and updates ECU`s,,,,
20 mins later i was driving the car,,,how happy am I,,
I know a second hand pump is a bit of a risk, but Hay,, i got thepump cheep and the labor was free, and a meer £40 for the man to plug his lappy in
I think i came out of it at under 150 quid,,better than the 750 to 1,200 some folk have been quoted,,,,
I hope this will help others,,,
Cheers Paul,

TDis don't spark ;0)

The OP was talking about matching the codes of the pump to the ECU, a totally different set up to a petrol version.
Loss of spark to your plugs could be down to a faulty coil pack, cam or crank position sensors or any of the connections to these.

Hi,
The guy that sorted mine was an EX FORD mech/engineer.
he told m he can sort ALL manner of ECU type probs out,
I would put his business number up but that would be blatant advertising, and i wont do that unless given the OK from the powers that be here
P.S.,,,,,,this guy is in Merseyside,,,,
