cam belt - theho
Hi
Considering buying a Mazda 626 S reg. The cam belt was done at 54000 miles and now it has 102000 on the clock, should this be done again now?
It's up for £895, 6 months MOT and tax, FSH but has a little rust around the wheel arches.
The back suspension hangs very low so suspect it's been towing but shocks will be replaced as part of the deal. Any thoughts?
They sound like great cars, I don't mind if it's boring!

The springs support the rear of the car so I would think that they should be replaced to restore the ride height. The shocks do not carry any weight.

I have a Mazda 626 diesel V reg which I think will be the midlife updated version of the car you are considering. So far I have done ~170k miles. It's been a very reliable car with no major expenses other than the cambelt changes every 54k miles. If I were you I would get the garage to change the cambelt before you buy.
