hi... just wondering if any one has had problems with frontera 2.2dti engines... The car wont start aftter all the basic checks put it on a code reader which pointed to the cam sensor (in the pump) so i removed the fuel injection pump for testing this came back no faults fond. I then removed the ecu for testing this came bacck no faults found so is it possible to test the can-bus link between the ecu's

tech 2 would pick it up (code reader as used by main dealers) when they tested the pump was just the ecu on the pump tested or was the pump fully tested ie is it squirting fuel out of the pipes can you post the code, are you getting a crank signal

yeah pump body and pump ecu tested no faults found fault codes present were 1651 which relates to fuel pump 1612 and 1613 which relates to immobiliser so i had that checked all ok the pump has been tested at a specialist (merlin deisels) and the vehicle ecu at ecu testing in nottingham the problem is i'm getting contradicting answers

oh forgot to say the car has been on 4 different code readers (tech 2 included) and still not running !!

okay voltmeter at the ready you need to measure the voltage at terminal 7 and ground at the injection pump wiring harness with ingnition on should get battery voltage, if thats correct then measure the voltage at pin 7 and pin 6 (+ at 7 - at 6) should be batt voltage, if thats okay you need to measure pin 6 and 5, batt voltage again, that should keep you busy dont both doing any of the further steps if you dont have the correct voltages, post the results pm me if you would prefer

2000 2.2dti can bus systems/ old advise forum - rubi

Hello been reading through forums all morning - closest symptons to mine, was the above topic..u seem switched rite on with these little beauties.... ;) so am begging your expert advice....

I purchased a silver fronty 2.2 dti rs 3dr x reg 2000 yesterday - cracking condition - never seen engine so clean, all original paintwork, fsh, been loved - finally after looking for a nice one for months, it has a fault which i was told - and managed to haggle to a more than decent final price, so have the cash to put rite... thinking worse case synaro.. is it fuel pump???

Symptons so far....

after 25 miles sudden loss of power at 3000rpm - driving approx 60-70pmh , sort of kick back, ease off throttle then ok for couple of yards, but kick back ,jerk loss of power engine management light on then off (someone quoted limp mode)then i pulled in, it ticked over ok for sort time, tried pullin off - cut out.

Tried leavin it for while to try again, but no good had to be towed home 250miles - (not good) left it over night, tried it this morning got to shop and back no prblem at all.

Can you please advise the best course of action. or better the exact problem lol (feeling positive) ;)

Thank you for your time

Good evening, wondered if you can help me. I have a t ref frontera and have carried out the wiring checks you have said to do. Pin 7 batt voltage, 7 to 6 batt voltage and 6 to 5 batt voltage. Pin 8 when cranking is 10.1 volts. Pin 2 with ignition on is 3.9v and pin 1 is 2.5v. Pin 6 earth. Any help appreciated
