Please help, I have a problem with the engine struggling to tickover on some starts, especially when cold but sometimes when warm. The engine starts on the key then runs rough until its revved up, after this it runs not bad. Sometimes it starts ok and runs ok.
Driving the car it runs fine and the fuel consumption is acceptible (45mpg by filler/50 on the computer) Ford service suggested that there is some loss of compression on 2 cylinders and that there may be bent conrods/gudgeon pins, there is no vibration while driving even at high revs. I'm having trouble understanding this, as I would have thought as the revs increased a bent conrod/gudgeon pin would have a noticable increase in vibration?

What do you think?

If the car has covered more than 40,000, get the EGR valve checked. At least have it taken off and cleaned. Use WD40 and plenty of cloths.

Also get the Mass Air Flow sensor checked. Could be dirty with grease and dust.
