Whatever anyone says, I'm sure this car will be immense FUN
Not for mimsers who like to save 2p per mile by driving small diesel OAP cars , and log all fuel use on their computers after filling up on a cold morning down at Asda's :)

>>>small diesel OAP cars
For future reference, are there any available for big OAPs?

it sounds a nice car, of course they have had issues selling the new model, and when push comes to shove its best to shift some cars rather than none at all....
even mini are now offering discounts on there coopers which they've never had to do.
.
fair comments about subaru imprezas they do have an image suppose like volvo have theres and bmw have theres....its something you have to live with.....
we have a impreza estate gx 2.0 non turbo and a volvo v40 2.0xi (small estate)
so therefore have a pipe and slippers image and a boy racer cars...
(techs. though state that the volvo is the faster of the 2.)
.
my subaru gives me 32mpg, with 14 of my 35 daily miles being unclassifed back roads.
service kits can be bought from the main dealer or dealers via ebay for £45
this includes spark plugs/oil filter/air filter/fuel filter/screen wash. service intervals for mine are approx 12k. typres for mine being only 15" are 44-90 each depending upon brand. and "scoobyworld" can do a cambelt change with genuine parts for £175.
yep i've read prices for parts can be painful but then again its supposed to be a reliable brand.
oh mines grp 14 insurance costs me £400 fully comp with the wife on the car as well. (ungaraged)

Bought a Forester with the same engine (brand new, 14 grand from main dealer, UK car).
Done almost 4k miles since September, averaging 26mpg mixed roads (lots of town driving).
Great car. Easy to drive, maaaasses of torque/power.
Insured for 250 quid (mid 30's, one SP30).
13 grand for the Impreza variant - buy it. Run it for 6 or 7 years and sell it for a couple of grand.
On a tangent I see the official Subaru site is selling the last remaining Forester 2.5XTs for 5yrs 0%. I'm sure if you have the wad, they'll still offload for 8 grand off list...

Nice one Lygonos - glad you are enjoying it
Your car would be my ultimate everyday drive :) , but our 2003 2.0x is still looking/driving almost like new, no don't realy have any excuse to upgrade, nor are likely to until the next ice age, at present rates of wear ;)

Excellent deal for a once owned 3.0S Capri - Renault 5 GT Turbo - Puegeot 205 1.6 GTI, 48 year old ! lol, Assuming I went out and purchased this cash (£13000.00) How much do you chaps think it would be worth in say 2 years time ? (obviously how longs a peice of string, springs to mind, but assuming 20000 mls - well looked after - FSH) Thanks
|
£8k ish maybe - very hard to guess what will happen to the market in next few years, but I'd suggest it'll likely to be about 2/3 of the price of a same age Golf GTi.
The one thing I'd say against the Impreza/Forester is they aren't as big inside as you may think. A Focus is marginally bigger than the preza, and about the same as the Forester inside.
Engineering-wise, the Subarus are on a par with Honda/Toyota. Just have a look for all the disappointed owners on this site.

13k new, 8k after 2 years... so only 40% depreciation?
|
Considering cars are typically worth 40% after 3 years and this car is already 30-ish% off at the point of purchase (eg. 8k for a car listed as 20k 2yrs previously) is this unreasonable ?

Motorpoint have them as well @ £13K - they take trade-ins. Brokers do not usually
|
Nick - points well made. At this money, and bearing in mind HJ's reports about the price of imported products in the near future, I'd snap this up if it was what I wanted. Can anyone suggest anything else, at this price, with the same blend of performance and character? As for running costs: tuck the saving away with ING at 4% and dip in if necessary, and enjoy.
|
Mmm... Assuming its worth £8000.00 in two yrs time = £5000.00 spent, div by 24 Months = £208.00 PM + interest lost on the outlay. Not bad really considering this model would be £300.00 + pm to lease. Decisions, decisions.

Don't want to put a spanner in the works but has anyone actually made enquiries to see if any exist as advertised? Wouldn't be the first time in history non-existant items were advertised or that they only had 2 or 3 available!
|
They have zero stock of the Imprezas advertised !!!
|
Reminds me of the bloke who goes in to the show room of a rival dealer selling the same make as one he has just seen at a bargain price elsewhere and asks for one at the same money. Sorry sir replies the salesman, we only sell them at that price when we don't have any in stock !
|
so basically this thread is a flight of fantasy - a non existent car at a non existent price ...
|
Motorpoint have at least 7 @£13000
