I'm looking for the cheapest way to get a car for a 3-month period in a foreign country. I'm assuming that the regular rental companies will want at least 300 quid/month?
I'm reluctant to buy an old car and resell it when I leave. Chances are some greasy dealer will sell me a 6 year old Hyundai/Toyota for about 4000 quid and only offer me 1500 when I bring it back....
Any suggestions? TIA.

Knowing what country would be a huge help!!

Most rental companies will do a special rate for rentals of more than one month. However, given that they have to tax, insure and maintain it, it is no surprise that they will charge as much as a lease company will do per month and possibly more. You will get a virtually brand new car though and no problems hopefully.

Sorry for the delay guys: Australia.
Pick-up/drop-off in Brisbane probably.
Holiday Autos quote around UK£750/month! Surely there are long-term rental or lease deals available somehow?! TIA

About £25/day... not unreasonable for a daily rent but talk to a hire company direct. But then HA do very cheap CDW.... I wrote off a car (Fiesta auto) and was not out of pocket. List price was about ?14k!
Whatever you do please make sure you have full cover. If you did buy you have the problem of insurance as well - or 3 months only.
