Must have:
- convenient good garage for make (main dealer or/& independant specialist)
Wished it didn't have:
- obvious road noise (difficult, when other factors taken into consideration)
- linked wash wipe system (Seemingly standard - why? On a frosty, salty morning, you need to know that the washers haven't frozen (despite heated jets and stiff concentration of washer fluid) otherwise the wipers smear the motorway spray into an opaque grey film..)
|
Must have:
aircon/climate control
awd or rwd
oodles of power (over 150 bhp per tonne, preferably over 200)
satnav (though I can forgive this one if the car is fast enough)
ipod connectivity
excellent reliability
Mustn't have:
fwd
a metal retractable roof
diesel engine
auto gearbox

This is an interesting thread - my you are a picky lot aren't you?! ;)
The next time I buy a car (probably in the very distant future), my standards are going to be a lot more exacting;
Must have:
Power - I made that mistake this time around thinking the economy savings would be worth it. They're not.
Some form of petrol propulsion.
Must not have:
A Vauxhall, Opel (or anything along those lines on the back).
Easy to please really.
|
Sorry - I ran away with the excitment of getting a well timed, perfectly worded anti-Vauxhall quip in there.
I meant to say, "a Vauxhall, Opel (or anything along those lines) badge on the back.
Carry on.

Not yet had a car with air con or many of the other gizmos, so until I've had the benifit or otherwise of these things I can't say. My elderly MX5 has no power steering, has wind up windows, no a/c and as it is a toy and lives in the garage unless dry, rarely has a roof. That's all I need. (Wife's car does our everyday stuff, but is still very basic).
So, must haves
Wheels..... 4 please
Seats....... two, more would be excessive
Engine...... petrol, non of that oily stuff
Preferably....Must not haves
Anything that needs me to study a handbook to get it working, or that relies on little black boxes full of electrickery that I don't understand. (I know the MX5 has got some, but nothing like anything modern).
|
I'm not sure I have a list of must haves but I prefer -
Hydraulic suspension
A/C
Comfort
Reasonable MPG.
Come to think of it there is a must have but I fit it myself -
A good sounding 'stereo'
Dislike sunroofs due to my head already being fitted with one! Though I do like the ventilation you get when set to tilt.
Steve.
