06 rattling diesel starting engine in wet - Sheldon
I run a Yaris diesel (from new for 2 years) and have noticed a loud rattling sound from the engine compartment when starting the car in wet weather. I stress this only happens in wet weather and this has happened from when I first purchased the car. Does any one know if this is serious or what it could be? thanks, Sheldon.

Strange one that. The only possible suggestion I have is that water is being drawn in through the air intake somehow. Is it a combustion type rattle or a mechanical one? how long does it last?

It is hard to say Peter , but I would think it sounds mechanical! It only lasts for about a minute once I put the revs up it goes away. Hope its not the timing chain .Thanks, Sheldon.
