01 1.8 petrol - low mpg - alunevans
hi all,i have the 1.8 petrol engine and i have filled it to the top and reset the mileage.it has done just about 350 miles to a tank full.my engine light is on and i know its the egr valve,but is this a normal amount of mileage to a tank full or is the egr causing high useage of fuel????

If you ngine light is on the car may have backed itself off to avoid damage. I suggest you fix the ERG vlave and have the system checked. Regards Peter

would the eg valve being faulty cause the engine to use more oil than usual and make it smoke???????

Hi i've got the same car engine and im lucky to get 280mile to a tank full and i drive overly sensible soooo....
