I've just swapped insurance companies. When I informed the previous company that I would not be renewing, (so they did not automatically charge my CC for another 12 months worth), the clerk said they would forward my proof of full NCB within a few days.

Why, in this multimedia age do they do this? Surely the new company will be able to access this automatically from the insurance shared database thingymajig?

I'm sure when my new policy drops on the doormat, there will be a request to forward proof of NCB within a set period of time!

I've just done the same. As it happens, and possibly against my better judgement given some of the reports, I've moved to Swiftcover (Axa). The upside is it's all internet based and I just emailed thema scan of my renewal notice which showed 9 years no claims. Doesn't your renewal show the NCD years?

The full renewal / schedule never arrived!

This is very strange as I got a telephone call from them about 2 weeks ago to ask if I had received it. I replied by asking if there was a problem with the renewals, as I had never had a phone call from them before. He said it was just a courtesy call, but he would send a duplicate renewal......this never arrived either (V big insurance co.) All I got was a reminder about a week before it expired with the car reg. / make/ type and the cost to renew.

Have done a bit of chopping and changing recently on insurance for the cars for the best deal. Although we do both have full NCB no one has asked for proof of NCB only asked the question " How much NCB do you have?"

;-) filter on:

Maybe they have some software built in which says tells the clerk "If this person has occupation of Mr Fullchat, computer says "NO", "don't ask them for proof" because Mr Fullchat is NOT in one of these trustworthy professions:
Judges, Lawyers, the Clergy, Journalists, and Ministers of the Gubermint.

I have never had to supply proof of NCD in far too many years of driving.
There again, I haven't had to make a claim - they may as at this point?

I have, on occasion, been asked for the insurer and policy number so I suspect they may phone them up to confirm.

I am quite often asked to supply copy of alarm/immobiliser installation certificate though.

Last time I renewed I got a letter in to say I hadn't yet sent proof of NCB (they hadn't actually asked for it), I called them up and they took details of my last policy and went direct to my last insurer for confirmation.
