Hi all new to this, i have a vectra 2.0 petrol 1999 t reg, Having some problems ecu light on all the time idle poor and only revving to 4500rpm, have done the paper clip trick and have a number of codes, camshaft sensor, intake air temp sensor and Hego oxygen sensor can anyone advice on this as i am having a right nightmare with it. You have to read code definitions carefully. P0340 is cam position sensor A; bank 1 - circuit malfunction That will cause your 4500 rev limit; check all the wiring between it and the ECU very thoroughly - there may be a modified loom and sensor available, depending on which engine is fitted. P0110 is also for a circuit malfunction of the intake air temp sensor. It may be mounted separately [again depending on the engine code] so check it's resistance and it's wiring. P0135 refers to the heater circuit of the oxygen sensor; again it s a circuit malfunction code. Check the fuse and the overall circuit resistance. Ignore the last two for now and concentrate on the cam sensor code. Reply | Report as offensive | Link

How do i check the circuit on the cam sensor, i have checked with a volt meter and there is a reading when the ignition is on, would it be an earth or relay problem. Reply | Report as offensive | Link

You need an oscilloscope and an Ohmmeter to check the signal and the wiring respectively. This is skilled work; best leave it to a professional. The earth is usually the brown one; what's the engine code on this car? Reply | Report as offensive | Link

X20XEV, I have checked the cam sensor earth to the body with a buzz test and that is fine.How do i reset the ecu i have tried the 30 key turns with 5 sec on, and taking the battery off for 30 mins, but the light stays on. Reply | Report as offensive | Link

You don't reset ECUs; once all the faults have been dealt with, the light will eventually go out [after about 40 fault-free drive cycles] but the codes will probably need clearing with a scanner. As you don't have the knowledge or the expensive tools to do any more than try fitting parts; why not take it to a man that can. Reply | Report as offensive | Link
