Unsure if a 56 plate (Nov 2006) Fiesta 1.6 Ghia automatic in flat red but wth extra sunroof (has climate - not sure if this was a cost option or standard over normal a/c) and 2000 miles (yes 2k) is a good deal at £7200? Comes with 6 months tax from non-franchised dealer.
Any thoughts? Not sure how the new Fiesta will affect values of this model?

Have you checked how it's affected by future road tax changes? 1.6 auto might be horrible, and so could be very difficult to sell on.
We really struggled a few yrs to ago to sell a Clio 1.6RXE - lovely car, but people buying supermini's want 1.2 engines, and the price premium for that model put used ones within touching distance of brand-new entry level models - exactly the issue with the car you're looking at.
And despite what people tell you about small auto's neither we, not a family friend dealer, could shift MIL's year old Corsa auto a couple of years ago.
With only 2Kmiles, has the car been sat around for long periods with everything siezing up and going rusty? Has it been serviced on time, so maintaining the warranty?

Thanks for that. Tax is an issue on this one - £170 now, £205 next year then £300 following that. £25 a month for a supermini is expensive.
Not sure on the service history as we didn't get that far, but yes the milage indicates either about 25 miles a week, so that could be one 12.5 mile round trip or a few smaller ones - not best for the engine but at least being an auto the clutch won't have been mashed to death by somene revving it in 1st whilst trying to park.
There is some minot bodywork damage, some the car dealer said they can fix (scuffs) but there is a dent/crease just below the rear light cluster that they reckon can't be fixed as the Fiesta is double-skinned.

I'm not that familiar with pricing, but do you *need* this car?
If you really want a bigger engined, auto, very low mileage supermini, then maybe it's perfect for you, and you probably won't find another.
However, without those special factors it sounds waaay overpriced, particularly as it's not in absolutely stunning condition. Are the wheels in good nick - they can be horrible if they been kerbed and refurb is quite expensive and often doesn't last.

No, this car isn't the be-all-and-end-all purchase. On the face of it is appeared to be good value (original cost was something like 12/13k, so in 18 months or so it's down to £7200), but insurance and tax is starting to eat into this.
Thanks for the replies - just wanted another opinion and I think this proves it's not for us.

Do you need something supermini sized, or would one-size up be okay?
If you don't mind a slightly bigger car, try an untrendy Almera 1.8 SE automatic at about half the price of that Fiesta. I have done 20,000 miles in mine and it's fine: easy to drive, firm ride but comfortable seats, high spec (rear parking sensors, climate control, all-round electric windows), autobox works well, and very reliable. Slightly higher emissions than the Fiesta (so in next tax band).
www.cargiant.co.uk has several 3-yo examples at a bit over £4,000
