no, not for the car battery, but to plug in to the cigar lighter and charge 2 or 4 AA cells.
Does anyone know of such a thing.
I'd try googling, but thanks to a burning lorry on the M62 I've spent 4 hours to travel 70 miles and my brain is a bit fried at the moment ;-)

I've seen this in Lidl few weeks back - costs under £10.
Could buy this as my car's cig lighter socket doesn't have enough space to fit this in over it :(

I bought a Uniross charger that came with a mains transformer and a lead for use with the car 12V socket. Although this was a few years back, I'm sure they still produce something similar. You'll find it at Argos, item no. 980/1097. Costs £34.99.

Yes Uniross still them for about £30. I used to use mine quite a lot, when I had a digital camera using AA batteries. Seemed to charge the batteries up more than an AC wall charger.

Try Maplins on-line catalogue.

That's a really good price! The one in Argos is very similar, though charges in 15 rather than 90 minutes but costs £35.
The only advantage of a 15 min charge time is if you want to charge batteries on a short journey. With these chargers, if you switch them off, which is what would happen if you turned off the engine, then restart, the charger goes back to the start of the charging cycle which would not do partially-charged batteries a lot of good.

Yes indeed dc, I'd make sure any charger I buy these days is voltage and temperature sensing rather than a straightforward timer. I think the one I linked to above is a proper one, although the details are a bit vague on the mymemory and play.com websites.
