How long is a piece of string? With regular oil & filter changes with quality parts all its life (probably much more regularly than Vauxhall specify) how about 200,000 miles plus.

I adopted HJ'S oil and filter change regime when I got my 97 1.8 at 29,000 miles in 99. It's up to 220,000. It doesn't burn oil between changes and still turns in a regular 38 mpg in daily use. I'm keeping it going to see just how long it will last.

With modern engineering and modern engine oils, not to mention modern engine management systems which protect the engine from being pushed beyond its safe operating parameters, I think 200,000 miles is the least you can expect if the engine is driven with consideration (particularly when cold) and serviced frequently. I had a Sierra that would now be 25 years old which made 225k running on cheap mineral oil changed every 4k. The car fell to bits before the engine!
To put this mileage into perspective, the Volvo owners club has some petrol engined models with over 700,000 miles and still going strong! Probably serviced every 4 minutes, but it shows what's possible.
Cheers

But one catastropic fault , and it is crusher time. Some make it , some do not. Just run it till it stops as you are now winning by miles.
but , are you not tempted by the latest gizmos, safety features, shapes, tax bands, colours, sat navs, etc.?
You are not normal sir - Gordon Brown does not want you
