1999 1.9 excessive smoking at low rev - tes
renault kangoo 1999 1.9 diesel every now an then it seems to run on 3 cylinders aquick rev seems to clear it ive stripped down injectors and cleaned them changed all the filters it is still the same its done 71000 miles any ideas what is wrong

Do a compression test to see that everything is OK mechanically.

Striping and cleaning is no substitute for bench test.You have no idea if the break pressure is within tollerances,let alone leak or pattern.If you can pin it down to a particulat cyl,then swapping around injectors might confirm faulty unit.If excessive smoking is accompanied with increased engine noise,that would go a long way to confirming diag.I'm with previous respondant on this one.for all that we know it could have intermitant valve problems.Ie a sticking valve could create your symptoms,with the reving increase closeing it.I'd go for a compression leakage test.If availiable.

I have just found a solution to a problem i had with my renault kangoo i was getting excessive smoking at low revs as though it was down on one cylinder my local diesal speciallist new what it was straight away did diagnostic check found that it was the advanced solenoid valve on the pump fitted one at a cost of 264.97 it seems to have done the trick he said it was a commom problem with kangoo,s hpoe this help someone with same problem
