apperently hi-vis yellow is beyond the visibillity of humans at warp factor 9 :-)

There is a standard line used in these cases, so I've been told on more than one occasion...
"The ticket is not for your speeding, Sir; I am issuing you a ticket becaues YOU did not see ME."

I know the A77 relatively well and think I know the lay-by you refer to.IIRC this is where the unmarked Sapphire Cosworths used to sit a good few years ago!
I must admit if I am ever speeding, I am constantly checking front back and sides for what could be unmarked cars. Some cars you know are just never going to be an unmarked traffic car, but there are a large group of "possibles" that would make me slow down.
Couple of days ago, as I was taking the flyover over the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow, I saw that an unmarked car had pulled someone just before the M77 turnoff. It was quite a distance away but I could have sworn it was silver 4x4 style, poss Merc or BMW.
Strathclyde's best was the silver Octavia they recently had, blended in well with the ten million silver Octavia private hire cabs that run about Glasgow! In fact, haven't seen that for a while, they were probably fed up getting hailed by drunks at night! :)
Since I got a car with cruise control, I must admit my motorway "speeding" has pretty much stopped. Last summer I drove to France and kept the cruise set at GPS 77 on the British motorways. I head off to France this Sat and aim to do the same again. Leads to a far more relaxing drive, not accelerating between bridges etc

i dont think the north wales police have any 2 identical make or model unmarked cars i saw 6 of them together once on the menai bridge not one the same as another apart from radiator lights and those cool back window lights

Ithink like most aspects of driving, it takes some experience to know how to look out for Police, and even then it's easy to miss the signs sometimes. I try not to speed now but still find myself breaking when I see a van on a bridge in the distance on motorways, but sometimes I don't spot them untill it would have potentially been too late. The roads are busy these days and there's a lot of potential distraction. Especially in a Citroen C2 with boyed-up ICE boom box etc!

Oh dear! I think your admission is likely to create so much venom!

Returning from Scotland last week cruise set to 70 on GPS - I only became aware of the camera van on the bridge above the M74 when someone overtaking me hit the brakes and ended up behind me! It was probably too late for them by then.

Is that breaking (wind) or braking (slowing down)?
