After a 2002 RR for around 10K at auction........ - 3D Engineers
Have £12K and want to try and bag a new shape Range Rover for around £10K at auction. Leaving £2K to run it for a year/repairs on purchase......always the pessimist.

I have 2 questions:
1) I have not got a brochure for an early car. Are there any essential options I should make sure the car has? I guess LPG may be desirable!

2) I am not in a hurry and am happy with my existing car -well it goes and stops me getting wet going from A to B.
For the sake of 6 months, would it be a good idea to buy one cNov-Dec this year as they are an unpopular vehicle what with VED and fuel price rises and therefore may fall significantly in price in that time?
HJ's most recent auction report suggests that there might be a price correction coming as lots of cars will have to be released at lower values soon and this is my worry.

Thanks

Never bought a car at an auction before therefore I do not know how close a look you will get to check it over.
Two things you ought to look for are the function of the air suspension and also make sure the head gaskets are not gone (assuming it is a V8) Yes LPG is an idea assuming the installation is all secure, neat and tidy.
Range Rovers with manual gearboxes are very thin on the ground and therefore do not hold their price as well as the auto. Also it may have ben used by the boys in blue. See if you can establish the identity of the previous owner.

Wait until November; the world will seem a very different place by then and thirsty motors like that will not be in demand by dealers with moribund forecourts.

In the meantime; cultivate the sales side of a few L-R dealers and you may find a peach of a trade-out being offered.
