My C3 can suddenly sound like a machine has been fired behind the dashboard for 10 secs. It can do this under all driving conditions. Cold start/hot start/idling/high speed/low speed/any gear. It is a sensodrive and before purchase, 2 months, has had 2 actuators and ECU fitted. Since then it has jammed in 5th gear. Been back to main dealer for reprogramming.

If it sounds like a rapid clicking then it sounds as if the speedo (and maybe other instruments) is recalibrating itself. Happens on 206's when the battery is failing and electrical power has been lost.

It is a rapid clicking but very very loud. Also sounds central behind the dash. Speedo doesn't show any change.

Could this be one of the heater flap motors jumping teeth on it's drive gear?

Had the same problem fixed by my local garage. I can't remember what it was but it wasn't much to get it fixed (boy was it worth it). Both main dealer and local garage knew what it was instantly so take it in!
