In the 'news' on the right

would I be alone in being totally unaware of 'Mr Brightside' by the Killers ? ;-)

No, you wouldn't Bora - and Paradise City by Guns N' Roses, must be the most boring, repetitive "rock anthem" ever - but then all my family reckon I have appalling musical taste anyway!

What bloke's gonna admit to belting around the North Circular with Bonnie Tyler's "Holding out for a hero" blaring out?

Gordon Brown's favourite in-car songs are:

Money, money, money

Baby you can drive my car (if you can afford the VED)

Born to be terminally gloomy

Jumping Jack Cash

The long and winding road which will bring in more when road pricing comes in

2-4-6-8 fuel duty accelerate

and many, many more!

No doubt the country's favourite driving songs are all boring, doleful, self-important, humourless and arrhythmic examples of modern white rock and roll. This carp is all one hears these days even from Jools Holland.

All mine are by Chuck Berry, a rather hard and sour individual but musical genius who has achieved all-time-great status with five chords and basically two lyrics, one about girls and the other about cars, although the variants often refer to both. He did this by being a genius performer. Chapeau.

Chapeau.

I'm aware that Chapeau is French for hat, and an island in Quebec, but I assume you use it in a different context. Please wise me/us up.

Ah, sorry.

The French say 'Chapeau!' as a reference to the hat they would raise if they were wearing one and could be bothered. It is an expression of usually approving respect.

Lud,
I can think of some places in the capital where you might be wise to skip the 'my ding-a-ling' track if you're in the habit of keeping the windows open and playing it too loud.. as some do...:-)

Anyone who can listen to "Won't Get Fooled Again" while driving and not have their speed increase by at least 15mph should pull over immediatly as thay are probably dead.

And anyone who plays steering wheel bongo when James Blunt is playing would be better off dead.

Anonymous?

On the basis that only his mother could love him, I don't think you are anonymous anymore, Mrs Blunt.
