Recently I've observed that some motorcyclists zoom past me [filtering lanes] with their right indicators constantly flashing.
[1] Have anyone of you noticed similar incident?
[2] What does it mean?
[3] Is it part of highway code?

Sounds a bit like the French habit of leaving the left indicator on when using the outside lane of a dual (or above) carriageway. Pointless, IMHO.

Usually means "I want to overtake-GET OUT OF THE WAY"!!!!

As a motorist / motorcylist, I would suggest from my experience that it is often down to the rider not having manually cancelled the signal after use as motorcycle indicators are not normally self-cancelling. This of course is a dangerous practice and to alleviate the problem I fitted a simple 'buzzer' device into the wiring system to remind me to cancel the indicators after use, not particularly 'cool' perhaps, but very effective and a possible life-saver.
However, I appreciate that there will be those riders who deliberately operate the right indicator switch as an advance 'warning' to other motorists that they are 'filtering' albeit I do not believe that this practice is recommended within the Highway Code.

I feel we should used the term "turn signal" (as the Americans do) instead of "indicator".
Nowadays indicators are used for various signals. Like people assume that flashing all indicators at once give them right to park anywhere on the road/footpath etc.
|
No, please, not another Americanism! They "indicate" where you are going, so should stay as indicators - if all four are used together they are hazard lights....
|
I'm quite good with cancelling indicators now. I still have vivid memories of my instructor yelling "INDICATOR" into my ear at 100dB!!
It was a habit I found quite hard to get out of early on though.

No, thanks, . "Vector direction change location selection photon emitting warning device" would be far preferable.

Wouldn't that get confused for a brake light?

Don't be silly!! That would be magnitude. Besides which, the wavelength would be different.

Winkers........
I think that's what they used to call them anyway. ;-)

Cue smug pug, whose bike I think has cancelling indicators??

Mine have self-cancelling indicators, too. You just put your hand back on the handlebars!
