1998 1.4 GearBox Problem - 07marcjb
Hi i was wondering if anybody here could help me. I have a 1998 S plate 1.4 Megane. When the engine is off or the engine is on i cannot get it into first gear. Second gear is hard to achieve but it is possible. ALso whilst the engine is running there is a very violent vibrating around the whole car. Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance

Hi, if the engine/gearbox rattles with it not in gear, it sounds suspiciously like maybe the clutch is out of alignment, which would also explain why you can't get it in gear as well.

Have you had anything done to the clutch/gearbox recently? There are obviously other possibilities, but i'd go with that for a starter for 10.
