How do i find the alignment mark for the upper cambelt wheel on my 6-cylinder vw lt35 petrol. There is a mark on the wheel but i can´t find the mark on the engine to match it.
Just some questions, do you mean that the mark should be in a thougt line between the crank and the cam or just on the edge of the head?
Not sure that the old belt is correctly fitted, because there is a lot of missfireing now.
Do know if there is enough space between valve and piston if the belt snap´s or if piston and valve meet´s? There´s low compression on one cylinder but i don´t know if that depend on wrong cam timing or if the belt has break before i bought the car.
There should be a curved window in the metal cover behind the cam pulley.
When the cam is correctly aligned; the dot on the back of the pulley should be level with the top surface of the head - the surface that the cam-cover gasket lies on.
