Go to measuring block 8; what are the figures in zones 1 and 2 at idle?
What's the voltage across the two outer pins of the dizzy plug, key-on?
Check the wiring to the crank sensor; must be getting a bit tired at the sensor end by now?
Without a cam sensor reading; the ECU doesn't operate the injectors sequentially - hence the loss-of-power.

didnt think there was a crank sensor on it thorght it was all through the dizzy, checked for one could not see it
|
Hidden away down the back of the oil filter? Definitely got one.

I had to replace the crank senor on my AGG when it was 9 years old and 110,000 miles.

i'll get one and try it let u know how it goes thanks

My replacement crank senor came from GSF, the old one caused total engine shutdown.
|
|
I fitted my replacement crank sensor, I had to hold up the engine on a jack under the sump and remove the front engine mounting bracket, I think the starter and the oil filter as well.

im lucky did it on the ramp at work. changed the crank sensor and cleared the code, no diffrent. gonna trace the wires back to the ecu tomorrow, but what is there after that? ecu? do they need reprograming after you've changed them?

it was the timeing on the dizzy my boss was playing about on his scanner on live data we just moved the dizzy to see what happened its showed , worked a treat, thanks for the help.
|
If you'd answered my previous question regarding the reading in measuring block 8..... That is the dizzy timing.

didnt understand what u ment to b honest mate but thanks any way

Hi, I am having the same problem with my 1997 GTI 8V, was just wondering what the values should be in block eight and the voltage across the dizzy plug? i have got a new dizzy, knock sensor and crankshaft sensor on the car and it still throws up the hall sensor 00515 code.
Any help would be appreciated.

Block 8, group 007, zone 1 should be between 57 and 61; zone 2 should be between 5 and 8.
Across the plug should be at least 10 volts, key on.

If i keep altering the position of the dizzy and hit this bandwidth will the code clear upon start up or will it need diagnostics on it to clear it? only reason for asking is friday is the earliest i can get diagnostics due to work commitments.
|
If it is out and causing the code; then the code status should change to "not present."
|
Thanks matey. All sorted now :)
