damage to me van - smudgr
On the 29th of last month I took my Renault trafic (based) 2.5 diesel motorhome to local
garage for MOT in the process they damaged it -to which they admitted liability-
however they subsequently failed van on emissions and brake stop light.
I left it to be seen to, but although I got MOT certificate-they wont give me the bill
until I GET ESTIMATE for repair- my friends tell me that this maybe because they (garage) want to load my bill up- what are my options...any advise please.
thanx

Bill for what? The MOT or the damage repair?

The total bill-MOT... the emission and stoplight repair-THE LOT-considering paying
for RAC legal service (£15) as a precaution maybe...

to clarify- the bill for the MOT and the emission etc.etc (NOT the bodywork repair which has to be carried out by specialist repairer) he wants me to get this estimate before
presenting me with HIS bill.

It's still not clear. Are you saying that the garage won't give you the bill for the MOT test plus the related necessary rectification work before you give them an estimate for the bodywork damage repair? If so, I can't see any reason for the garage saying that. The bodywork repair is an entirely separate matter to anything MOT-related.

I'd speak to trading standards and perhaps VOSA

Not quite sure how bad the damage is, but clearly the van's driveable.

If so, I'd do nothing but get some estimates for the damage work. When they send you their bill you can counter-claim. As you say, they've already admitted liability.
