Hi,
Last weekend I decided to give my car an oil change but before doing so i noticed that the oil under the oil cap was a cream colour. However, i proceeded to clean the oil cap, flush the engine and then change the oil. I checked the oil again today having done roughly 150 miles and once again the oil cap has the cream colour oil on it. The car has only done 25,000 miles, it has been serviced according to the warranty schedule at a Vauxhall dealers, and i don't drive it hard. I can only think that the head gasket is on its way out? If this is the case is that likely to be covered under warranty?
If anyone can advise
Cheers

are most of your journeys quite short or around town? if so it's likely to be condensation as the engine isn't getting warm enough to disperse the moisture in the oil when cold

Thanks for the reply Chris
On a daily basis i use the car to work and back which is generally 8 miles each way. I do use it for the occasional short journey when the engine does not reach full temperature so maybe it is moisture. I probably will let the garage have a look at it just to be sure, but if its just moisture is that likely to improve if i dont use the car on short journeys?

As mentioned, it's the short journeys that's causing it. Try altering your journey to work occasionally - ie, go the longer way around.
and i don't drive it hard
That's another reason. Give it a weekly italian tune (a forum search will reveal more)

Hi,
May be worth takingi it to a garage. They can do a snif test and see quickly if the HG has blown.
Don't think the test is very expensive to do.

Thanks for the replies, ill take it to get looked at to make sure its ok, if all is well ill try and cut out the shorter journeys. Besides its under warranty so hopefully im covered if they do find the gasket is gone.

It sounds like condensation as the majority have said.
If so, then it proves the oil is doing its job; trapping the water and holding it in suspension !

Seems a common problem with Corsa's. On servicing the wifes 1.2 Corsa the rocker cover and vacuum pipes required a good clean out due to the mayonase and does 50 miles a day.
