96 Heater Blower - matkalg
Hi all

Can anybody advise on where to go next, I have a 1996 p reg old shape mondeo and my in-car heater is giving me a headache, I can only have the heater on level 4, the heat comes out fine but if i turn it from 1 to 3 i get some slight smoke inside cockpit, Is it blower?

Thanks
Matt

More likely the terminals on the resistor pack. Stick your head in the passenger's footwell and look up at the side of the heater box; you'll see a four-wire block - probably melted.

Ford do a repair kit of wires and resistor.

as already posted the heatermotor resistor will be knackered (and/or the wireing) fords do a replacement and a repair kit for the wireing (the resistor pulls to much current and the wireing burns, i have even seen it catch fire before now, so its not some thing to leave )

You've done well to get it to last this long, matkalg!

On my '97 Mondeo, it burned out after just over 4 years with the ghastly smell of smouldering socks.
