Decisions....decisions...
My beemer is showing one blob to service. I am going to France in August and will be driving about 1500 miles. Do I get the service down now or after I get back?

Don't know what model you are running, but early '90's cars do about 1500 max per green, later cars 2000 max per green.
Given the oil is now old and you'll be doing fast, hot miles, I'd get it done now. In addition, this will get the rest of the car checked out. If it's an Inspection I or II, it will gain plugs, filters etc too.
Don't forget that it's usually a condition of Foreign breakdown insurance that the car is properly serviced, and if the worst happens you don't want them complaining that the orange light was on and the car was overdue for service.

if you have 1 green blob = 1500 miles
then you should get a yellow blob = 1500 miles
and then it turns red.
