2004 1.6 TDCi Rear brake pad replacement - Olaf_the hairy
I need to change the rear brake pads on my bro-in-law's C-Max but he was advised that ABS/ECU needs to be 'told' that new pads have been fitted.
Have worked on most systems but I don't have data for the C-Max especially as it has electric handbrake. I thought that systems where a computer has to be plugged in just to change pads was a rumour - but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone else heard similar or have changed rear pads on a C-Max?

2004 1.6 TDCi Rear brake pad replacement - mustangman
Hi,
I've changed the pads on the rear of a 2.0 C-max, with EPB.
I think its a myth that anything needs to be done to the ABS / ECU. I certainly didn't need to do anything of the sort.
Be prepared though that having removed the old pads, the pistons have a auto adjustment device that has to be wound back by a combination of force in the axial direction and being rotated. Otherwise you will not be able to get the new pads in.
This can be done with hand tools and a fair bit of difficulty, but I would recommend buying a universal tool to do this. I think the likes of Halfords may have them.
Good luck.

Many thanks for responding mustangman.

I shall be changing the pads this weekend depending on weather.
