Hi all,
A colleague has a '99 Megane Cabrio; a month or two ago, the display on the dash for the radio/temp info stopped lighting up. If the sun hits it at just the right angle then you can make out the display, but under normal conditions (and in the dark of course!) it just looks blank. Is it likely to be the backlight? And if so, how easy/difficult is it to get these displays out - is it a straightforward "remove some fixing bolts and out she comes", or is it a full dash out job? Or is it something else?
Thanks for any help/info!

the professionals on here won't like this but have you tried the 'Fonz fix' - in the general area of the display give the dash a slap - worked for the clock on my Ulysse...

I would think that the back light bulbs need replacing.Access to the display requires removal of the top part of the dash. Not as bad as it looks.

Yes had this on my original Scenic - remove dash and gain access to bulbs from above.

I did try the Fonz slap, but unfortunately, despite my nonchalant stance, no joy! Thanks for the replies folks, we'll whip the dash off this weekend (hopefully) and have a look and get it sorted.
