It can't be as good as some of these gems which I've just pulled from a Ford dealer in Hampshires website. I know dealer cars are expensive but some of these are just hilarious.
2005/05 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia hatch, 22k milles: £12495
2001/Y Ford Mondeo Mk2 2.0 Zetec hatch, 47k miles: £4995
2000/X Ford Mondeo Mk2 2.0 Ghia hatch, 43k miles, £4795
Yes - thats Mk2 Mondeos for near 5 grand. Moving on..
2000/W Ford Fiesta 1.25 Ghia: £4295
2007/07 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Ghia: £12000
2003/03 Ford Ka Lux 1.3 24k: £5995 (How much are these new from a broker?)
These guys have been using comedy pricing for years. It makes me wonder why anyone would buy from them?
|
I was looking in a Ford Dealer las night and had the same experience. £11000 for a 55 reg Focus. £8000 for an 06 Fiesta. Do they ever sell these?
|
|
It's worth around £3,250, so I'll say £6,500....
|

>>2001/Y Ford Mondeo Mk2 2.0 Zetec hatch, 47k miles: £4995
2000/X Ford Mondeo Mk2 2.0 Ghia hatch, 43k miles, £4795>>
Perhaps the website has not been updated in a couple of years.

Nope - it's up to date. They even proudly display these prices in the local press.
|
Perhaps they offer PX prices to match?...:-)
|
Theyy must mean Mk III.

Here's another (sounds a stupid price to me, but stand to be corrected
Mini Cooper S (R56)
57 Plate (Oct 07). Astro black with full black punch leather, John Cooper Works body kit & 18" John Cooper Works rare black alloys.
Absolutely stunning car & performance - 175bhp with 149g CO2 & 30mpg urban driving.
3,000 miles. Service not due until 20,000 miles, 5--year servicing paid for (TLC).
Every option, including;
Big list
Fast sale wanted, hence £**,***
|
I'd put that somewhere around £20'000. (And no, I wouldn't pay it)
|
OK, I'll play.
Let's say £21,999 for the Mini?

Had to edit that when I realised I was too close to the RRP ! ;-)

Confession time. I cheated and used google. After copying / pasting part of the text in your post, the first hit took me to:-
www.gumtree.com/london/26/20146326.html
;o)

They don't - the pictures are on the site. They are Mk2's.
I'd post a link but I think it counts as naming and shaming. They are based on Hayling Island in Portsmouth...
|
Well, that would explain it, you can't expect them to be as cheap as somewhere on the mainland ! ;-)
|
|
I don't see what there is that's shaming. You are stating a fact which is easily available from their website.
|
the focus is a listed in the ad as a 2003 not 2001?
still too much
|
the focus is a listed in the ad as a 2003 not 2001?
Well spotted. Everything else matched though, so either MVP or Alice had a typo accident.
|
i suspect MVP just did 'copy paste' from his intranet.
I bet its the same car, just an error on the intranet ad.
|
Re the Mk2 Mondeos - someone will go in there with an old banger worth £500 on a good day that needs work. They'll be offered £1500 for it and sold easy finance on the rest to get into a shiny low mileage car that probably drives like new, despite being £3k overpriced.
It's a proven business model that's worked for years. Someone will fall for it, they always do.
Cheers

The Intranet addvert definately says 2001
BTW, the Mini is up for £24k

Nope, guess not the same one

Nope guess not the same one
So it was a total fluke that I got the price correct then. What are the chances of that happening?

Assuming you were working in the range of 3000 to 6000 ........ er, about 3000 to 1 :-)

"Alice" gives her location as London "canada water". Isn't that where "banks" are located and is it where MVP's bank is located?
Quite likely that Alice is an alias used for the gumtree board.
I suspect that Alice has made a typo in her intranet advert. MVP could easily find out if he tried!
|
This one got me intrigued - Alice Clarke (linked by mobile number) is also trying to rent out a flat in Crawley, which looks quite pleasant!
Come on MVP, is there a mobile number on your intranet ad?
|
Canada Water is located somewhere between the City & Canary Warf, the bank is located in the City
Only an internal phone number I'm afraid, but the same person is trying to let a flat in Crawley
I didn't realise this board had so many budding Sherlock Holmes's :)
