2003 1.8 TDi - Lack of acceleration - Essexlol
My Focus TDI (75,000 on clock) seems to lose power mid way through the rev range especially in fourth or fifth gear. It seems to take a long time to accelerate to the top speeds of the car. (A new air filter did not remedy this). No oil is being lost and fuel consumption is normal.

2003 1.8 TDi - Lack of acceleration - injection doc
I suspect it could be the AFM but I would try a bottle of Inj cleaner first & make sure fuel filter clean & air tight . May be a diagnostic check would be prudent first. The AFM may respond to a wash with carb cleaner .

I have solved the problem.
I found that there was a thin black tube, coming from the turbo unit (I think), disconnected.
I fixed it onto a small pipe on the MAF. The difference is tremendous.
I have suceeded but am not sure how.>>
