Anyone know what would cause the tailgate stop light to stop working, all the led's are out. The main stop lights are ok, as is their fuse.

have you tried the brake pedal switch ( under the said pedal) known to stick, turn it out by 90 deg then pull it out , clean the contacts then refit , should cure it

Don't know what takes the power to the tailgate; but broken wire or duff contact pin?

It's more than likely to be the bulb that has blown.Quite a common occurrence on fiestas

I agree. I don't think it'll be the brake light switch at the pedal if the other two brake lights are coming on.

Why do you say "all the LEDs are out"? The 2005 Fiesta high-level brake light uses an 18watt bulb, unless the unit has been changed for an after-market LED one. Lift the hatch-back, take out the two rubber grommets behind the stop-light, stick a flat-blade screwdriver into each hole and push the spring clips to one side and the stop-light unit will come loose. Close the hatch, pull the unit forward and change the wedge-ended 18W bulb. Clip the stop-lamp back into it's recess, lift the hatch and replace the two grommets (if you can remember where you've put them). Job done.

An afterthought--- If you need to change the number-plate illuminator festoon bulbs, don't try to undo the screws with a cross-head screwdriver like I did. All the small screws on Ford cars now are Torx-head. Use a T20 Torx bit for the number-plate lamp and T25 for the two screws on the inside of each rear-light cluster. Taking out the two screws will loosen but not remove the rear-light cluster. It will still be held by two plastic pegs on the outside. Hold the cluster firmly with both hands and give a smart pull forward to unplug the two plastic pegs. Or is yours the pre-facelift model? In which case the rear-light clusters are held with a big plastic wing-nut on the inside. You have to reach into the back of the light unit to feel it. Just unscrew it and the light cluster is free. You can leave it dangling on its wiring whilst you change each individual bulb. Remember to check that the amber coating on the indicator bulbs isn't peeling before each MOT as they'll fail it if any white light is showing.

Happy New Year to all...
