When using aircon, will more fuel be used on a similarly powered petrol or diesel?
For example; the Peugeot-Citroen 1.8 117 bhp 118 lb/ft petrol and the 2.0 HDI 110 bhp 184 lb/ft diesel?

The a/c will use exactly the same amount of energy, whatever the power source, as energy used is energy used. Therefore the most economical engine, will also be the most economical when the a/c is on.

Agree with what you say Dave.....
I'd rather run a Diesel with a/c as the engine (due to the torque?) seems to be unaffected by the compressor load, unlike a petrol engine
