1996 2.0 auto problem with auto box - nev666
Hi,
Last time i had this problem on a renualt, it was very easy and cheap to fix. Electronically controlled auto box has a fuse in the cente consule. The holder will have worn allowing fuse to become loose espescially when warm. remove fuse nip pins replace fuse problem solved or better still replace fuse housing with new one and no more problems.

Have a look at the elevel of ATF and its colour.

Low level and/or a burned brownish colour would show you need to change the ATF.

Renault autos do not have a good press but any autobox will show problems when the fluid is low or "breaking down"
