Damn, double damn.....and thrice damn. Received a NIP in the post this morning from the Essex boys. 42 in a country lane with 30 limit. Hands up and throw myself at their mercy for a fixed penalty and points. Completely trashed my 35 year clean licence.
Serves me right for lack of attention in an area where there are more cameras than people. One minute it's 30, next it's 40, 30, 40, 30, 40.
In the words of the famous philosopher Homer.....DOH!

You do realise, of course, that makes you a MUR-DER-ER? Remember, speed kills. :-)
|
I may not have mentioned it but Mrs P was caught in North Wales around Christmas - 51 in a 40 on one of the very few fixed cameras that North Wales Police have.

Were you an 'accessory'?
Kevin...

No I was many miles away, but I got blamed anyway !

But not loose.

There is a temporary speed limit of 40 mph on a stretch of the St Helens Link Way at present. To signify the end of the limit, there is a big, temporary de-restricted sign ....... which has been placed 3 yards in front of the sign for the commencement of the 30 mph section ahead.

" 30, next it's 40, 30, 40, 30, 40."
Sounds like the road between New Mill and Huddersfield, with a camera tucked behind a bridge
I`m thinking of using the Sat Nav (a Christmas toy) with its speed camera POI`s on any trip over unfamiliar ground.
That really isn`t me at all, but locally I know so many little traps set for people in areas where there is little risk, but a high catch chance.
(It must be the same everywhere?)
There are two villages near here with an open road between, just fields on both sides. Suddenly there was a 30MPH limit over that mile with only new lamp posts as the give away if you missed the 30 sign at the beginning.
A Police traffic car hid in a farm entrance with radar guns pointing down at the open (previous 60MPH) area for weeks afterwards.
They were there from dawn to dusk getting a good catch of us regular law abiding, Police respecting citizens.
Following that, no doubt as catches tailed off amongst us locals, one of those automatic light up speed detector signs was placed there.
*Why not put that there first*?

>>on one of the very few fixed cameras that North Wales Police have.
What annoys me about North Wales is that they have about 2 fixed cameras but about 2000 zones where there are camera signs. I don't know if they actually use mobile cameras at all of these sites, or ever have, but, if not, just sticking a sign up threatening the presence of non existent cameras sure is a cheap way of getting the camera conscious / non locals to stick to the limit through the zone.
This trick seems to be common throughout most of Wales.

I can assure you that they have a very active Mobile Camera fleet, the signed routes are the so-called Arrive Alive routes where the vans follow, what I understand is, a random patrol programme but allied to programmed so called "project" routes (the A5025 road on Anglesey being one of them).

So my religious diligence from the end of the motorway all the way through to Aberystwyth is not in vain, and just me being paranoid then :)

has to be said
just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you
(especially where s*****y cameras are concerned)
